- After Your Reiki Session
EVERY SESSION IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT AND THATS OKAY
Your session is YOUR experience
You may feel relaxed, energized, emotional, tired, clear-headed — or simply feel like yourself. There is no “right” way to respond.
For the next 3 days:
- Drink water as you normally would and stay COMFORTABLY hydrated.
- Give yourself a little extra rest or quiet time – if your body asks for it.
- Spend time in nature – go for a walk, sit by a lake or a pond, or out on your deck – if your body allows.
- Notice any physical, emotional, or energetic changes without judging or forcing them. It may be helpful to journal them.
- Gentle movement, a warm shower or salt water bath. Avoid strenuous exercise.
- Try not to over analyze your session immediately. Allow yourself time to simply experience it.
- Try to minimize screen time. This is healthy any time – not just after a Reiki session.
- Continue any medications, medical care, or treatment plans exactly as directed by your healthcare providers.
Over the next few days
You may wish to check in with yourself periodically and notice how you are feeling compared with before your session.
Take what feels helpful. Release what doesn’t. Trust your own experience.
Your Reiki session will be beneficial whether you follow these suggestions or not; however, incorporating them into your regimen will allow the energetic realignments set in motion during the session to stabilize and integrate more effectively on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Extend this period beyond three days if you are experiencing a healing reaction (see below). Or incorporate them in support of a healthy lifestyle!
Healing Reactions
After a Reiki treatment you may experience physical symptoms such as headache, nausea, and fatigue. Occasionally, pain or discomfort will intensify briefly before releasing. These experiences are sometimes referred to as a Healing Reaction or a Healing Catharsis (Reiki Flu) and are usually an indication that the body is detoxifying as it moves through the healing process. Should this happen, extend the regimen recommended above, taking care to stay well hydrated, get plenty of rest, and generally be kind to yourself.
Such symptoms usually dissipate within a few days. They are more likely to occur if you have not had energy sessions previously, if you have a chronic condition, or if you are chronically stressed. They are typically an indication that more Reiki is needed. If symptoms persist, consult a medical professional, as they may be unrelated to the session.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your Reiki experience. 🖤
